The Denver-Boulder metro region in Colorado is among the winners in the migration shuffle. Led by Denver and Boulder, Colorado has built a thriving tech industry ecosystem attracting both startups and tech giants — Google, Amazon and Salesforce all now have a major presence in the area. CNBCOver the last five years, about $17 billion in VC funding has poured into the area, according to research firm CB Insights. While the Denver startup community has seen dramatic expansion, it hasn't made as much progress on diversifying its business community. However, even the top 10 cities for Black-owned business growth in the study fall far short of corresponding metro population metrics.

DENVER (AP) — A former Colorado police officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of reckless endangerment for parking his patrol car on railroad tracks before a handcuffed woman was put inside and seriously injured when it was hit by a freight train. Pablo Vazquez had been charged with five misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment in connection with the crash that injured Yareni Rios last year but reached a plea deal with prosecutors. A judge sentenced Vazquez to 12 months of unsupervised probation. Another former officer who put the woman in the patrol car after a traffic stop, Jordan Steinke, was found guilty of reckless endangerment and assault for the crash near Platteville. Her attorney, Christopher Ponce, called Vazquez's sentence “disappointing”, adding that Rios wished there was more of a permanent conviction.

Two paramedics face separate trials this month for their role in giving McClain ketamine, a powerful sedative at times used on highly agitated patients. The death of McClain, 23, inspired sweeping police reforms in Colorado in 2020, including the banning of chokeholds like the one he was put in. "Nathan Woodyard did not kill Elijah McClain, he's not responsible for what other people did," defense attorney Andrew Ho said in his closing argument. "Ketamine is what killed Elijah McClain."

An Australian project management company is suing Twitter for around $700,000 of unpaid bills. That includes work fitting-out Twitter's Singapore office, and clearing out its Australian one. Twitter is facing another lawsuit accusing it of not paying bills — including for work clearing out the company's Australian office. That's a week before its first round of mass layoffs affected the Singapore office, Insider previously reported. The London office has already been involved in another lawsuit, as the landlord — King Charles III's Crown Estate — accused Twitter of failing to pay rent.

Twitter has faced several lawsuits from landlords complaining that it hasn't paid rent on offices. Now a Colorado judge has issued an order that the sheriff should help evict Twitter, reports say. Elon Musk once said Twitter would only pay rent "over his dead body," according to one lawsuit. Twitter is being kicked out of its office in Boulder, Colorado after not paying rent for months, according to a report by the Denver Business Journal. According to one lawsuit filed by ex-Twitter employees last month, Musk said in one 4 a.m. conversation the company would only pay office rent "over his dead body."
